Harlyn Bay is a large sheltered and safe sandy beach located on the north coast of Cornwall. During the summer months lifeguards are on duty, as is the case at all the other local beaches of Treyarnon, Constantine, Booby's and Trevone, which are all renowned for their great surf and sand. It is a popular destination for holidaymakers both in and out-of-season. Harlyn and its surrounding area offer a great contrast in experience for all. It can be a place of relaxation and escape for some, and for others, a place to actively explore and release energy.

Harlyn is not only a summertime location, but offers many experiences in the quieter out-of-season periods. It is particularly favourable at this time for walkers, golfers and those who want to escape from the chaos of city life. The nearest shops are at St. Merryn (a mile away), which include a bakery, a garage, a fish 'n' chip shop, a newsagent, a Post Office and two small supermarkets. The next nearest settlement is Padstow (3.5 miles away), a quaint but busy fishing harbour, now made famous by Rick Stein's Sea Food Restaurant/Bistro portrayed in the BBC series. Here you will find all matter of conveniences including a new Tescos superstore.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and it could be said that there are few better views in the world than that looking out from Harlyn. For a wonderful day out, take the ferry from Padstow to Rock and follow the Camel estuary to its mouth via the sand dunes and beaches, if you go at low tide, otherwise walk along the low cliffs. Cross Polzeath Beach and follow the cliff to Pentyre Point. On a sunny day you will be able to enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the surf breaking at Polzeath, the Estuary snaking up towards Padstow and the unique beaches to the west of the Estuary, sheltered by Stepper Point. In addition, we are only 15 miles from The Eden Project, at St. Austell.
